Fly Fishing Toft Newton-Lincolnshire
Toft Newton is a reservoir located next to the villages of Toft by Newton and Toft next Newton near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. The water is some 40 acres of a concrete bowl with a hard-surfaced walk all around it, making it easy for access.
Toft Newton Reservoir caters for both bank and boat angling, with an excellent fleet of new Goulam boats fitted with electric engines that are a joy to operate, simple and eco friendly.
The staff are also very friendly, and eager to help in making your day more enjoyable, pre-Covid and hopefully post.
Toft Newton reservoir clubhouse is located in the main office has a small area for brewing but at present, with Covid, this is out of bounds. The office has access to a small but well-stocked shop, a good selection of flies.
It can be a bit difficult to get to the fishery with the roads approaching it is single track and sat nav does play up. But I suggest you use google maps on your phone that is on the mark.
Toft Newton Reservoir(https://www.tofttrout.com/ )is also Trout master water and holds several competitions throughout the year. The new management team has a policy of regular weekly stocking. There is a mix of Rainbows and Blues with a few Browns to add variety.
The fishery is under new ownership and eager to make it a success for the angler.
There are regular bank matches of a friendly nature to take part and tuition is available on site by good competent anglers. It can fish most methods, I have been there in summer, and late winter catching on all methods from dry Fly, Buzzers to lures and even dare I say snakes.

Car Parking 8/10
The place has ample hard-surfaced space to park your cars near the office.
Disabled Access 9/10
The water has a wheelie boat that can take two wheelchair anglers out for a day’s fishing in comfort. The use of the Wheelyboat is free to all disabled anglers.
Toilets and Hot Food 8/10
The toilet is located next to the office has a separate entrance and is clean and well maintained. There is no access to hot food or catering.
Shop 5/10
There is a small shop at the main office with a good supply of flies, fly tying materials and other equipment for sale.
Life Jacket 9/10
These are provided by the fishy and must be worn at all times. The life jackets are provided when boat fishing and are next to the jetty.
Wading 0/10
There is no access to wading, although to be fair you don’t need to wade as the fish can be close at times.
Views 6/10
Are very good, rolling farms with the usual smells and baggage that goes with farming areas.
Fly Fishing 7/10
As it’s a concrete bowl, the fishing areas are pretty much the whole lake but dependent upon the wind, and it can get crowded with bank anglers, so book in advance and turn up early.
My overall rating 8/10
It was one of most underrated fisheries. But it is fast becoming popular due to the energy and vigour of the owners and the staff. They have worked hard and invested in making the venue a truly-enjoyable experience with a very relaxed atmosphere to make your days memorable.
I have fished recently and will return to it as I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
